Recordati to acquire Spanish pharmaceutical company Laboratorios Casen Fleet

Recordati will acquire 100% of the share capital of Laboratorios Casen Fleet S.L.U., a Spanish pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Madrid and production facilities in Utebo, Zaragoza. The value of the transaction (enterprise value) is of € 93 million and will be funded from existing liquidity. The transaction values Laboratorios Casen Fleet at 2 times sales. The closing of the transaction is expected to take place in the following weeks.

Japan based Suntory Beverage and Food limited to buy GSK 's nutritional drinks brand Lucozade and Ribena for £1.35 billion

GlaxoSmithKline (LSE:GSK) today announced it has reached agreement to sell its nutritional drinks brands Lucozade and Ribena to Suntory Beverage & Food Ltd (SBF), the Japanese consumer goods company, for £1.35 billion in cash.  It is expected that the transaction will be completed by the end of the year, subject to regulatory approvals.

Novartis announces an exclusive global licensing and research collaboration with Regenerex, leveraging a novel cell platform to broaden presence in the cell therapy space

Novartis today announced that it has entered into an exclusive global licensing and research collaboration agreement with Regenerex LLC, a biopharmaceutical company based in Louisville, Kentucky, for use of the company's novel Facilitating Cell Therapy (FCRx) platform.  The hematopoietic stem cell-based FCRx platform has been investigated in kidney transplantation to induce stable immunological tolerance, resulting in graft survival without the need for lifelong immunosuppression. This collaboration reaffirms the Novartis commitment to transplant. Beyond transplant, Regenerex's novel platform potentially has curative potential for multiple underserved diseases and will be investigated in the rescue of serious genetic deficiencies such as inherited metabolic storage disorders and hemoglobinopathies.

Neurodyn acquires all assets related to Galantos preclinical asset Memogain - A prodrug of Galantamine intended for the treatment of Alzheimer

Neurodyn Inc. has acquired from Galantos Pharma GmbH, Mainz, Germany (galantos.com) all assets related to their Alzheimer’s prescription drug candidate – Memogain®. Memogain®  is a prodrug of Galantamine and has completed an extensive preclinical development program and is ready to proceed into Phase 1 clinical trials in late 2013.  The pro-drug greatly enhances delivery of galantamine to the brain and is expected to offer decisive advantages over drugs currently available for AD that are limited by very modest improvements in cognition, adverse effects which limit adherence, and no significant disease modification. The expected medical benefits of Memogain® include significantly greater effectiveness as a cognition enhancer and absence of dose-limiting gastro-intestinal side effects. 

Endo acquires Specialty Generics Company Boca Pharmacal

Endo announced the acquisition of Boca Pharmacal, a specialty generics company that focuses on commercializing and developing products that include tablets and capsules, semisolids, solutions and suspensions. Endo will pay $225m in cash for Boca.
